September Fast: A VITAL MESSAGE

How did I get here? What led me to start a “no dairy, no sugar” fast in 2017? At the time I thought it was the health issues I was experiencing. But now, I know without a doubt, it was the providential hand of God. I may never fully understand His methods, but I am so grateful He led me on this path of fasting and praying. Through Fasting I have found the perfect environment to develop ears that hear; I never want to miss the direction and challenge He wants to share with me. You see, in so doing I am acknowledging God’s ruling hand in my life. My heart’s desire is to do the work He wants to accomplish through me for His great name. And using the strength provided as I follow a healthier diet during the month of September, I am shining a light – it might be small – but God has the power to take something small and enlarge its capacity for something great!

A friend shared she and her husband are also participating in the fast. I have added them to my prayer list along with my dear hubby who volunteered to fast for the month, though to a lesser extent. 😉 Through this adventure, I pray we will never be the same.

Our journey, as a Christ-follower, is one of ambassadorial service for our King, through sharing the greatest message anyone has ever heard – Christ died for the sins of the world, was buried, and rose again – this is the message of saving grace (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)! To lost individuals headed to an eternity, separated from God, this is critical! Physical healing is important but spiritual healing is critical. Our physical disease will not keep us out of heaven, but our spiritual disease (sin) will! The message of the cross is indispensable. It must be used daily. Time is running short!

Whether you have decided to join in the fasting journey or not, I pray you know the Father’s love and grace in giving His son as our substitutionary sacrifice (John 3:16). I pray you will see His providential hand at work in your life, as well.

Dispensing the gospel daily: Have you reached out? Walked over to your neighbor? Said good morning or good afternoon to the person in line behind you? Told the Walmart employee cleaning the restrooms how much you appreciated the job they did? Been patient with a telemarketer? Shared the good news recently?

It’s a vital message. Let’s pray for courage to follow through for the praise of His glory!

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

1 Peter 2:9, ESV
