Glaring at the calendar this morning, my mind struggled to fully comprehend that it would need to be flipped with the start of tomorrow. Has any year ever flown as fast? I find myself fumbling for the date so often.
And yet, here we are at the precipice of the month of June.
June means a fast for me. A fast from what I tend to “love too much” and is not on the healthy list: sugar and dairy! But mostly, the month of June is about celebrating a wedding anniversary; Which happens to be another mind-boggling feat; on the 26th my husband and I will have 42 under our belts. I realize fasting from what will not last and has no real meaning for my life (sugar and dairy) to focusing on what will bring a reward in heaven (like my relationship with the Lord) is His desire for me. And obviously, He knows no greater joy can be found when we choose Him over anything else. So, as I commit to focusing on my Heavenly Father and seeking to be obedient to His Word that will also include concentrating on my relationship with my husband. I am adding daily assignments for practicing “joy-finding” in my husband which will require creative ways to encourage him without any negativity.
“How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me …”
Philippians 4:10 (NLT)
“…submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord.”
Ephesians 5:21-22
“…Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. …be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:29 & 32
“If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails…”
1 Corinthians 13:1, 4-8a (NASB)
