As my husband and I toured the Biltmore Estate for a second time, I was pleasantly surprised to find a terrace opened for our viewing pleasure. Positioned on the backside of the estate where fresh air could naturally flow into the adjoining rooms for the comfort of the guests, this portico was breath-taking. From the beauty of the intricate design of a spacious balcony to the view of rolling hills and open land, despite being marked by winter’s days and rainy conditions, we found ourselves mesmerized by it all.

I could envision living on such a porch smothered in cool breezes, positioned high on a cushion to see out over the artistically designed stone wall. My Bible would be my reading material and God my companion for early morning prayer meetings. Of course, Rodrigo could join me with a beautiful brunch consisting of scones topped with lemon curd and clotted cream accompanied with hot nutmeg Chai.
“Excuse me, Mame?! Would you take a picture for us?”
Regrettably, my dream ended, but always happy to oblige the taking of pictures. 😉

Each time I visit the Biltmore, it always makes me think of what Jesus promised,
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places.”
John 14:2
Every Christian has this promise: a place prepared just for them. Jesus reassures you and me, do not let your heart become disturbed, instead, keep believing! Keep believing in Jesus, in God and the promise of a special abode. A dwelling that Jesus Himself has designed with us in mind. He is busy making it ready – a place in heaven for all believers to remain where He is, we will be too. Have you made arrangements with the Bookkeeper? Your name MUST be written down or there will be no room for you! (John 14:1-3; Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:5, 13:8, 20:15).
I love the metaphor of Jesus as a Shepherd of the sheep. We are the sheep, and like the Bible says, we all like sheep go astray. But Jesus also represents the spotless Lamb of God Who shed His sinless blood to cover the iniquities of us all (Isaiah 53:6; John 1).
“I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever!”
Psalm 23:6

My husband and I always love spending time in Ashville, North Carolina. Recently, he kindly stole me away for a 3-day adventure, where for the most part I stuck to my “fast.” However, there were a few indulgences, and one of them being in Old Europe where I savored my favorite dessert: Tiramisu with a cup of coffee. But I want you to know, I am back on schedule now with my fast. 😉 Hallelujah!
What a great picture of our future mansions. Thanks Scarlett Road.
