A Planting of the Lord! (A 10th Season Begins)

One of my loves is perusing a plant nursery. Not only do I enjoy checking out the wide variety of plant life, but as my dear husband knows, I rarely go home empty handed. Well on this day one of the lucky plants that came home with me was a baby dianthus. Once we arrived back home, I found a nice sunny spot and plopped it into the soft brown earth. Now all it had to do was WOW me through its journey of expansion. However, my impatience grew with the slow progression taking place. So, I tried moving it to a couple new locations. Still not seeing the amount of ground cover I was hoping for, I pulled it apart, dividing it into several little clusters placing them in a bed of their own. At last, my work paid off as it began to cover an entire flowerbed.

The Prophet Isaiah had his own work cut out for him, writing to the nation of Israel:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me…To bring good news to the afflicted…So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:1-3, NASB

“Then all your people will be righteous; They will possess the land forever, The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified.” Isaiah 60:21

This Nation has been described as a stiff-necked people and their plantings were dug up and dispersed many times over. Yet God is not finished with them, thus Isaiah’s prophecy will come true. But meanwhile, with the Jews’ rejection of Jesus as their Messiah, God in His mercy has allowed Gentiles to be grafted into the family of God. That ole persecutor of Christians, Saul, who became the Apostle Paul and had a ministry of seeing Gentiles planted into the family of God, commands us: our job is to be bringing Him glory and honor.

“For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:20

We can bring great tribute to our heavenly Father in the way we live.

The season for planting is here; I am a planting of the Lord to bring Him glory!
