Every child is born with purpose. The Bible says this purpose is in light of each one being image bearers of our Creator. When a boy, Jesus learned obedience through submitting to His parents. We as parents are to model Christ’s example and teach the Bible to our children. In turn the children bring a rigorous workout to our character. In this way, children are a wonderful gift; they are a reward from God (Psalm 127:3). One aspect of these wonderful gifts is to view life from a child’s perspective. So, when my grandson (seven years old at the time) writes a story that will probably be a best seller, I must share the perspective of this 7-year-old! Sit back and enjoy 😉
The Long Morning and The Movie
(Waking Up) At 7:00 on Saturday morning, April 22, 2023, a boy named Parker and his grandparents, Gram and Pop, got out of bed. When Parker and Gram went downstairs, Gram made French toast. Pop “weed-eated” before he ate his.
(Gram works, Parker plays, and Pop mows) After Pop ate his toast, he mowed. Parker played inside while Gram worked, then they went outside then Pop played with Parker while Gram tended to her daylilies.
(Moles!) Pop got out the Mole Poison and found plenty of new tunnels. Parker climbed up the tree some. Then they went back to the backyard and Pop played with Parker a little more. Then Pop went to Sheetz.
(Hot dogs on the grill!) When Pop came back from Sheetz, he got hot dogs on the grill! While the hot dogs were grilling Pop played with Parker. Pop had to kick the big pink ball because Parker couldn’t kick it high enough.
(Pouring rain) After Pop and Gram worked a little more it started pouring. The hot dogs were done. They were delicious!
(Lightning!) In the middle of eating, there was lightning. Parker got freaked out. They moved into the garage. Gram got out some cookies. That calmed Parker down. Then they went inside.
(Hot bath) As soon as they got inside, Parker and Pop each took a bath. The bath water felt so good on Parker’s back.
(The movie) That night they watched Pollyanna. And all had a good night. The end.
“…You shall teach them diligently…” “Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.” “He established a testimony…appointed a law…That they should make them known to their children;” “My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands;” “He who…loves him disciplines him;” “Train up a child;” “A child left to himself brings shame to his mother;” “Correct your son;” “Therefore, be imitators of God as dear children;” “…do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord;” “…do not provoke…lest they become discouraged;”
(Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Psalm 34:11; Psalm 78:5; Proverbs 3:1; 13:24; Proverbs 22:6; 29:15, 17; Ephesians 5:1; 6:4; Colossians 3:21)
Never forget:
Children are a wonderful gift; they are God’s reward to us (Psalm 127:3)!

A special story from a special image-bearer. An insightful view of life. Thanks Scarlett Road!
