What a whirlwind of a month this has been! October 2024 will not be quickly forgotten. Not only am I writing in my tenth year of blogging, but I achieved an age I never dreamed of reaching. Born in 1962, I turned 62 years old October 8, 2024!
Early in the month, just two days before my birthday, my gifted husband preached a sermon crafted just for me by God! My illustrious spouse went on to preach that sermon twice more this month. The way God works is never without purpose or plan, and the benefit of sitting under expository preaching by this man since I was 18 years old has grown my love for the Word and for God Himself. What a gift for all these years!! And what a glorious Word the Lord nudged into my heart as I sat under the teaching of Psalm 27 all three times this month!
The one thing I ask of the LORD— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. Psalm 27:4
Can I tell you about another gift I was given; totally out of nowhere, not on the calendar and not to be expected for many reasons? Seven years ago, our son brought his soon-to-be wife to meet us. Marriage, Babies, and distance kept them from making another trip to our neck of the woods. Much easier for us to make the trip, we usually visited twice a year. Yet, even in God’s economy storms are a part of His plan. And Hurricane Milton grew to be more uncertain a foe and the city was planning evacuations in a day or two, so my precious granddaughters voted to come to Gram and Pop’s in North Carolina. Remember God is never caught off guard, so my daughter-in-law, who was due to have their third born baby October 1 conveniently went into labor on September 12. So, on the day of my birthday and not having met my newest grandchild, this little fella along with his two sisters and mommy and daddy drove up to my house! What a grand celebration it was not only on the 8th but also on the 12th as the little guy celebrated one month old and his mommy and daddy, 7 years of marriage.
When I list out everything God did throughout the month of October, I stand in awe! The greatest gift-giver continued to give me gift after gift the entire month from outings with friends I rarely get to see, as well as some treasured moments with my North Carolina grands. October was packed celebrating an awe-inspiring God though at times the hard was louder and trust and confidence were enlisted to continue climbing! Do yourself a favor and sit down to read Psalm 27, as you’ll be glad you did!
My motto will continue to be I will not fear; I WILL remain Confident! It truly is confidence born of the Holy Spirit and the very favor of God!

Such a beautifully blessed birthday! Thanks for blessing us with the rich encouragement, Scarlett Road!
