This may be a bit gross for some prim and proper people, but I feel it must be said! There is such relief in successfully blowing snot out of your nose, whereby you are able to breathe, and your air passages feel cleared out, and your head feels ten pounds lighter. But shockers of all shockers, it can be nanoseconds before your nasal passages once again set in motion restocking with the nasty, thick, green mucus!
There is such a correlation here to sin! We have confessed it, are feeling free and light ready to follow the Lord to the ends of the earth, but that sidewards glance, that evil thought, that unkind word, and bam! We have stepped right back in the manure! Can you imagine if sin was only as gross as snot or manure?! But to a holy God SIN is so much worse than snot flowing or manure caked boots; SIN caused the torture, death and separation His Son experienced on our behalf! God’s Holiness could have no part in such filth and unrighteousness. Ironically, once we believe in what Jesus accomplished on the cross for our sin sick hearts, our filthy rags are replaced with Christ’s blood-stained robe of righteousness and our sin is not counted against us any longer! Hallelujah, that nasty snot will not affect us ever again as far as where we will spend eternity! Although, it WILL stop us in our tracks never making any headway in the Lord’s work, our Christian Walk, and our precious, priceless relationship with the Lord of the Universe. We will not experience victory or have the power to walk through this life without becoming bogged down in the snot and manure. And it WILL take us where we do not want to go, living an unproductive life for the Kingdom of God; no matter how much money we make, no matter how important we are at work, no matter what genius we have acquired in this life!
A Word from Healthline.com:
Increased snot production is one way your body responds to colds and allergies. That’s because mucus can act as both a defense against infection and a means of ridding the body of what is causing inflammation in the first place.
A Word from the Bible:
But if we confess our sins to him, he can be depended on to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. And it is perfectly proper for God to do this for us because Christ died to wash away our sins. [1 John 1:9, TLB]
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, (Colossians 2:6, NASB).
In struggling against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood…do not take the Lord’s discipline lightly, or faint when you are reproved by Him; for the Lord disciplines the one He loves… (Hebrews 12:4-6a, HCSB).
Out of my Comfort Zone: As God’s Children, Sin should Not be comfortable!

Sin is nasty! Thanks for the realistic reminder of how raw it is. I pray you feel completely better real soon, Scarlett Road.
