Day 9
No sugar or dairy
Today we had an outing in Angier for the Crape Myrtle Festival. The smells were heavenly. It felt (and smelled) like a mini Fair with funnel cakes and donuts, turkey legs and corn dogs, drawings and raffles, booths and more booths, all centered around Angier’s Train Depot. What a surprise to find all of that in little ‘ole Angier. The best part was watching our excited grandson take a ride (with his mom) on a little train (on wheels). He was so adorable, and even though he was cooperative when it came to the end, he really didn’t want it to stop. I feel that way about many things in life, not wanting a good time to end. That’s why heaven will bring so much satisfaction and joy! We will never get on board to enjoy the ride just to be told we must get off. We will never sit down to enjoy a meal and then be told not to order dessert! We will never have to see it come to an end! Our taste will be completely satisfied and experienced.
O taste and see that the Lord is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! Psalm 34:8
Explaining this verse, Joni Eareckson Tada says, “A taste is just a brush across the tongue—a brief, fleeting impression of a full meal.” We long to taste more, and experience God’s goodness to the max, yet we are still on “this side of the Jordan” but someday soon we will “enter that Promised Land, and it will take an eternity to experience its true abundance.”
I took refuge in the Lord today. Didn’t whine while others enjoyed donuts and cheese and an ice-cold Coca Cola! And as the train was zipping along with my grandson on board, I was busy trying to get his attention. Thus, the picture with me waving, frantically. What a Gram will not do to make sure her grandson has fun!
Thank you, Lord, for this beautiful day. But, none can compare with that day. What a day that will be! Are you looking forward to that day?
