When do you squeal in excitement? Better yet, what can make you look absolutely nonsensical to a watching world, but you don’t care because of the amount of joy it provides?
Since he was 3 months old, watching our grandson while his parents were at work has been our privilege. During his first two years we were living in an upstairs apartment near “Pop’s” (my husband’s) work. Watching the clock for Pop’s arrival after work was very important. This was pretty much the highlight of every day with a one year old. When I got the word Pop was on his way (a 3-minute drive), I would open the front door and carry the package (the grandson who wasn’t quite stable enough on his feet yet), to the balcony landing and place him looking out where Pop would drive up and park. When our grandson got that first glance of Pop’s car, he would shriek with screams while standing and grasping the balcony railing. We were always amazed that police officers never showed up on our doorsteps! But talk about a kid excited because his Pop was coming home! I am quite certain I have never had the privilege of hearing something as awesome as that when I arrive, but I have seen the excitement on little faces as they stand at the door waiting for “Gram” & “Pop” to drive up and then running out of the door in anticipation of being picked up and made over.

Proverbs 8:1, NLT
“Listen as Wisdom calls out! Hear as understanding raises her voice!”
Can you hear the excitement?
“I [Wisdom] call to you, to all of you! I raise my voice to all people.”
Proverbs 8:4
“The Lord formed me from the beginning, before he created anything else.” (8:22)
“I was there when . . .”
He established the heavens
Drew the horizon on the oceans.
He set the clouds above,
Establishing springs deep in the earth.
He set the limits of the seas,
So not to spread beyond their boundaries.
And when he marked off the earth’s foundations,
I was the architect at his side.
I was his constant delight,
Rejoicing always in his presence.
And how happy I was with the world he created; how I rejoiced with the human family!
And so, my children, listen to me,
For all who follow my ways are joyful.
Listen to my instruction and be wise.
Don’t ignore it.
Joyful are those who listen to me,
Watching for me daily at my gates
Waiting for me outside my home!
For whoever finds me finds life . . . and cause for incontrollable joy!
(Proverbs 8:27-35a)
