So, I shared this on my Facebook wall and received an ugly response, and yes, the ugly response came from a man!
Let me explain why I posted it in the first place.
It wasn’t to bash the male population. It wasn’t to secretly convey that my husband needs to change, either.
I shared the poster because IT’S TRUE!
God created the man, and then he created the woman. The man came first. The man was given the responsibilities of the garden. The woman was to be his helper and procreate! When Eve offered Adam the fruit she so gullibly gobbled, he could have resisted. It’s possible he was present during the dialogue that transpired between she and the serpent before she partook. Adam’s “backbone” seems to be none existent, which causes me to wonder if it was his backbone the Lord God fashioned into a woman! Okay, that is purely a joke. But it also makes sense in light of the woman always trying to take the place of the man as head (Genesis 3:16). 😉
But back to my point of the man created as the head (Ephesians 5:23). He was given the role of leadership and he carries that greater responsibility before the Lord (1 Corinthians 11:3). Are women accountable to God? You betcha! We all will give an account before God on how we have lived out our own individual roles before one another in this life. A man has the potential as a father to set a young girl on the path of blossoming into a healthy, secure woman who respects and honors the role of men.
My thoughts as I shared the poster:
The father raising his little girl in the security that she needs, will show her a man that loves his wife as Christ loves the Church (Ephesians 5:25-28), will provide for his family (1 Timothy 5:8), will teach his sons to respect and love their mother (Proverbs 1:8-9), and will guide the home with a humble, servant-leader character, seeking wisdom from above while naturally safeguarding his little girl’s heart (Philippians 2:3-8). That’s real backbone! Have you seen your backbone recently? 😉
