Face planted!

Many, many moons ago (wink wink) while playing basketball I took a knee. You can read all about it here! That knee taught me an invaluable lesson that I have never forgotten. The felt experience caused a great deal of trauma, yet I learned through that mishap that I had an awesome coach watching out for me. She knew exactly what to do, rolling me over to my back so I could find my breath again.

Recently my oldest grand and I were kicking balls around in the backyard, and after collecting the scattered array I turned to face him. I could see he was picking himself up off the ground. Grass covered his head to his knees, I think he may have chest-planted and then face-planted. But what I knew for sure, he was struggling to breathe! That’s when my “Gram”-heart leaped out of my chest and I ran over to his side helping him lie back down on the ground BUT this time on his back just like my coach did for me those many years ago!

Do you know what Jesus did when He came to this earth some 2,000 years ago? He walked through EVERYTHING you will ever face! He already knows what it feels like and the best way to make it through. He’s not postulating or computing, and He’s not merely hoping for the best outcome. We can have full assurance HE KNOWS, and HE IS IN FULL CONTROL!

“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”

Job 42:2, NASB

“For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

He never sinned,
nor ever deceived anyone.

He did not retaliate when he was insulted,
nor threaten revenge when he suffered.
He left his case in the hands of God,
who always judges fairly.

He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
you are healed.

Once you were like sheep
who wandered away.
But now you have turned to your Shepherd,
the Guardian of your souls.”

1 Peter 2:21-25, NLT

Wow, we have the perfect guardian!
