I’m thankful “I took a knee” (see blogpost: “I took a knee”) some 40 years ago while playing basketball. I’m thankful I experienced the trauma but yet, had a great coach run to my side. I’m thankful she knew what to have me do for finding my breath again. You know why? Just the other day my oldest grandson and I were playing outside. While he ran one way, I ran another collecting balls we were kicking around the backyard. When I turned to face him, I could see he was picking himself up off the ground. He had grass from his head to his knees, I think he may have chest-planted and then face-planted. But what I knew for sure, he was struggling to breathe! That’s when my “Gram”-heart leaped out of my chest and I ran over to his side helping him lie back down on the ground BUT on his back this time!
Do you know what Jesus did when He came to this earth some 2,000 years ago? He walked through EVERYTHING you will ever face! He already knows what it feels like and the best way to make it through. He’s not postulating like a doctor, or computing like a scientist, and He’s not merely hoping for the best outcome the way we do. We can have full assurance HE KNOWS, and HE IS IN FULL CONTROL!
“I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”
Job 42:2, NASB
“For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.
He never sinned,
nor ever deceived anyone. He did not retaliate when he was insulted,
nor threaten revenge when he suffered.
He left his case in the hands of God,
who always judges fairly. He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
you are healed.Once you were like sheep
1 Peter 2:21-25, NLT
who wandered away.
But now you have turned to your Shepherd,
the Guardian of your souls.”
Wow, we have the perfect guardian!
