God IS Present in the Trial (Day 4)

Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

Isaiah 40:28, NLT

Why do we say:

My way is hidden from the Lord And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God”?

Isaiah 40:27, NASB

How can we so often limit God and feel He is not present in our trial? In the book of Job, we find a grand declaration to the awe-inspiring essence of God (Job 38 & 39). It causes Job to be speechless.

As God’s child, brought out of darkness into His glorious light, we are flooded with the presence of God. He not only indwells, but He stands before us guiding the way and positioning Himself behind us. We are always encircled in His presence.

For His children, He serves as both Guard and Guide. He both precedes us and protects us. He is simultaneously our Shepherd and Shield.

The Red Sea Rules, by Robert J. Morgan

If we do not remind ourselves, daily, of the character of God, we will begin to limit Him and feel helpless when we go through difficult times.

We put our hope in the LORD. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in you alone. I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart.

Psalm 33:20-34:3, NLT

At the Red Sea, God put His people in a position where His presence had never been so real to them. Using difficulty, He cultivated within them a greater appreciation for Himself. One commentator wrote – “the Lord’s presence is never so sweet as in moments of appalling difficulty.” Envision His enveloping presence, and learn to say, “I will fear no evil, for You are with me.”

The Red Sea Rules

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.

Psalm 23:4, NLT

For a fresh reminder of God’s presence in your trial, read Isaiah 40:12-31 and listen as it shouts, “The LORD Has No Equal.” Later in the day, pick up your copy of God’s Words to man and read Job 38 & 39. God’s great presence is always encircling us!
