My closest companion is without a doubt my bifocals; without them I cannot read a lick! When not housed on the bridge of my nose, they are placed insecurely on the crown of my head. Unfortunately, it is a rather precarious predicament on top of the head as I busily go about my day. It often means they slide here and there and eventually go crashing to the floor.
It has become a strong metaphor in my mind that my glasses are indeed a representation of my “halo;” The one I imagine wearing when behaving “Christlike.” Far too often, I sense the halo beginning to tetter-totter and without warning it comes crashing down. This creates a fear that I am not measuring up, hence the Lord’s disapproval!
But thankfully God never placed a halo on my head. At salvation I acquired a helmet of salvation instead. And He completely covers me in a robe of righteousness. So, dear reader, my sainthood is not dependent on keeping a halo straight but totally in what Christ accomplished on my behalf on the cross securing the victory as He rose from the dead three days later. My security rests in His eternal plan and I have nothing to fear! His faithful love for me remains the same day in and day out, no matter how far I stumble. Yet, in my desire to please Him I strive to follow closely to the Perfect Lamb of God, born in a manger so long ago, and praying to be more like Him every day.
JESUS
Matthew 1:21 “…name Him Jesus, for He WILL save His people from their sins.”
He saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy…Titus 3:5
He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus – 1 Corinthians 1:2b
We wear the robe of righteousness that Jesus Christ secured on our behalf – Isaiah 61:10, Ephesians 6:14
The babe in a manger, God’s own Son, came to this earth as the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the world and when we believe in His finished work on the cross, not having a righteousness of our own, we are draped in His righteousness and given the name “Saint” to live for His glory and not our own
“… and become one with him, I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith” – Philippians 3:9

Halos (symbolically 😊) falling – a daily experience. Thanks, Scarlett Road for the strong assurance of Christ’s promises and forgiveness.
