A Blessed Mother’s Day

The greatest sacrifice a mother can make is to pray fervently for her child. Coupled with a mother’s sacrificial love, that commitment to prayer can play an important role in the life of a youth. It can become the launching pad that propels the offspring toward the individual mapped out target to know and understand whom they were created to be and to live accordingly.

As I sit each Sunday morning under the teaching/preaching ministry of my husband, for a time assisting a local church, I am receiving spiritual nourishment from the book of Daniel. The wealth of prophetic knowledge and principles found therein become my storehouse to mull over. This Mother’s Day just happened to fall on Daniel chapter 10 when Daniel was praying and fasting for a resolution to the 70-year captivity and not hearing any response and finding out after 21 days his prayers were hindered by the spiritual forces of darkness (Satan’s demons; Ephesians 6:12; 2 Corinthians 10:5).

There are times I find myself feeling God is not listening, but as my wise husband pointed out— “God is always alert and aware”! He never sleeps or slumbers and his understanding is inscrutable. Scripture reinforces his all-knowing character (omniscient—Psalm 139:1-6; Proverbs 15:3; Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 12:6-7; Psalm 33:13-14; Romans 11:33-34; Hebrews 4:12-13).

As mothers, we often feel our prayers are not heard, and God is totally unaware of what we carry. The Bible teaches that sin can hinder our prayers as well as an unforgiving spirit (Psalm 66:18; Proverbs 28:9; Isaiah 59:2; John 9:31; 1 Peter 3:7; 1 Peter 4:7). Confession of sin is necessary (1 John 1:9) with direct access to the throne room of grace (Hebrews 4:16) with the assurance God our father is aware of what we need even before we name it (Matthew 6:25-34; Psalm 121:8;).

“Mothers can do more for the future of their children by fervent prayer than by restless anxiety” (Author unknown).

No job or ministry is ever greater than that of a mother’s prayers!
