Whatever we feel we can’t do this year: a marriage, an illness, organizing the home, financial struggles, prodigal children, a job change, a move, a death, life without someone, finding joy in the journey; on and on the list can go, whatever it is that weighs our hearts down, God is all-powerful. He can lift us up! Afterall, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Gen. 18:14). When you think about what can’t be done this year, remember Who God is!
In my last post, I Can’t Do It~It Can’t Be Done, the principle of taking “one day at a time” provided the motivation for not hyperventilating the year away. Step 1: Take One Day at a Time (this moment is the only certainty we have anyway), Step 2: Cast Your Cares Upon the Lord (Psalm 55:22; 1 Peter 5:7).
Have you noticed when we focus on our troubles or circumstances there is no peace? When our attention is always on the difficulty or the struggle instead of the character of God and the promises from His Word, we are destined for a disquieting life. Herein is a grand reason to memorize Scripture* and to meditate* on it through the day. Just think, Jesus died that we might live, and not just get by, but THRIVE through 2018!
**I cast all my cares upon You; I lay all of my burdens down at Your feet
And any time I don’t know just what to do, I will cast all my cares upon You.
He is faithful to His good character! YAY!!!!
