As morning burst through my window, I leaped from the bed excited and exhilarated to start the week off right!
NOT AT ALL!!
I had hoped “to feel” the desire to get back into the old routine after all the fun and food of Louisiana but sometimes the motivation just ain’t there.
So, what do you do? Go back to bed? Keep eating “high on the hog”? Grit your teeth and be miserable?
“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves” (2 Corinthians 4:7, NASB).
If I just try to muster up the strength I will fail every time, but thankfully, the power of God comes flooding in as I open my Bible and cry out for help.
I know that my body and health is a gift from God. And His desire is that I steward it well.
He gives each of us choices to make concerning our health and daily habits. Many struggle with health issues but no matter where we find ourselves in the line-up of fit or unfit, healthy or not so healthy, we are all responsible before our Creator to steward the amount of health He has given us. “For you have been bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:20). We are not slaves to our bodies (or our appetites) – “But I buffet my body and make it my slave . . .” (1 Corinthians 9:27a). As God’s child, my body should not control me but be a disciplined instrument fit for God’s Kingdom. I want to continue to glorify God as I share with you and grow with a motivated heart that sings and makes melody to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19).
This is what I have accomplished so far today:
- Stretching exercises
- Drank 2 glasses of water
- Drank smoothie
10 ingredient smoothie: Kale, water, frozen banana, frozen blueberries, frozen ¼ of a lemon rind, Greek yogurt, honey, Chia Seeds, Collagen powder, cinnamon (organic ingredients when possible)
- Spending time in the Word and prayer
- Getting meals prepared for the week
- Lunch
Egg salad sandwich and carrot chips with a glass of water
Just make it your goal to eat healthy in this moment, and then in the next. Don’t look at the whole picture. Take it one step at a time. My next step is to drink another glass of water and spend some time on my stationary bike. When the hubby comes home, we always try to walk for some added exercise.
Time in God’s Word, working out the body (stretching morning and evening), and plenty of H20! Come on, I know you can do it!
Let me know how you’re doing and what you find helpful!
