A Nobody to A Somebody

Have you ever been told you were a “nobody”; That you would never amount to anything? Maybe you grew up hearing that from a parent or a teacher, or maybe even from a “so called friend.” Or, maybe you were just made to feel that way by how you were treated.

Those memories rarely fade because to be valued, patted on the back, and acknowledged as having worth is a human desire and even critical to how you view who you are.

“Seeing yourself as God’s work of art changes everything.”

Ken Nichols, Masterpiece

Nichols goes on to say:

“Every aspect of our lives—every interaction, every hope, every fear, every choice, and every habit—is shaped by our answer to the piercing question, “Who am I?”

  • when we succeed our hearts swell
  • when we fail, we feel ashamed, insecure, “less than”

“Many of us experience whiplash between these two emotional extremes, sometimes in the same hour! We may respond to our sense of inadequacy in very different ways all to prove we have value.” But Nichols says there is a better way to have a secure, strong, bullet-proof self-concept!

When we base our self-worth, and self-identity on the unfailing, unconditional love of God we have no need to vacillate.

Because God made us for relationships, “we get our greatest joys, and we suffer our deepest hurts in relationships.” Most importantly, “The ultimate connection, the one that we’re all made for, is an intimate, supportive, strong relationship with God.” Certainly, “When the wonder of the love, forgiveness, and acceptance of Jesus Christ floods our hearts, His love begins to dissolve the conflicted messages that have clouded our minds FOR SO LONG!” THEREFORE, “When an identity rooted in the unfailing love of God fills our hearts, we find the security and acceptance for a lifetime.”

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10, NLT

Can you believe it? He planned for YOU! YOU are part of His Plan! Today and right now go out and do the “good” that He has planned for YOU!

If you do not have a relationship with Him, what better time of the year than now to become a “somebody”! As we celebrate new life with spring springing and the commemoration of Easter resurrection (Luke 24), it’s the perfect time to start (or continue growing) a relationship with Him. Through the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are offered the free gift that comes with forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and a relationship with God. If you haven’t ever received this free gift, do it today!

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16, NLT.

Have you crossed from being a “NOBODY” to a “SOMEBODY”?
