Cry Out! Challenge, Day 12

Are you overwhelmed or feeling neglected? Is your heart heavy with uncertainty?

O God, Listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety.

Psalm 61:1-2

The Christmas of 2007 will never be forgotten. After experiencing some of the worst anguish you can imagine (in 2006), I thought I was finally going to see the Lord give me the desires of my heart! But instead I was presented an opportunity to trust my loving Heavenly Father. Some very important plans had fallen through. My normal routine defaults to anxious pacing and wringing my hands. However, I even shocked myself, as different ones went to work making phone calls to resolve the issue, I went to a quiet place and prayed. I cried out to God in prayer with an overwhelmed heart and at my wit’s end (Psalm 107:27-28). He welcomed me into a place of safety, and I found a tower of strength. Furthermore, on that very day, He granted one of the most mind-blowing answers to prayer I have ever witnessed. I’m still astounded to this day, “so I will sing praise to [His] name forever” (Psalm 61:8, NASB).

Those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord.

Psalm 107:43, NLT

Cry Out! You’ll be glad you did!
