C2C, Part 14: Twins are born

God spared Isaac’s life. And He promised Abraham that through Isaac many descendants would be born, including the Deliverer.

Isaac married Rebekah (Genesis 24). Rebekah was born in the land of Abraham, Isaac’s father, who had left to follow God’s command which led him to Canaan. Twin sons were born to Isaac and Rebekah (Genesis 25). Their names were Esau and Jacob. Esau did not believe or value God’s promises, while Jacob did. Jacob knew he was a sinner, just like us. He knew he must put his trust in God—not in his own ability to control the outcome of his life. God promised Jacob that the Deliverer would be one of his descendants. Jacob knew for certain that the promises given to his grandfather, Abraham, and his father, Isaac, now belonged to him.

When Jacob became a man, he went back to the land of his mother’s and his grandfather’s birth.

There Jacob was tricked into marrying Leah by his uncle, and after working for another seven years, he married Leah’s sister, Rachel, whom he loved. Twelve sons were born to Jacob. But God knew Leah was not loved by her husband, yet the Lord loved her and was going to rescue the whole world—through Leah’s family.  Judah, which means, “This time I will praise the Lord!” was born to Leah, and she praised the Lord for through her son, Judah, the Messiah would come.

Even if Leah was not found to be beautiful or loved by her husband, she could know God loved her and cared for her. Furthermore, The Deliverer would love everyone. You would not have to be from a certain tribe or village, and you would not have to be a certain color or even know the right people. You would not have to be beautiful to be loved, but you would be beautiful because you were loved by God. Like Leah.

Are you rejected by family or friends? Do you feel unloved? Jesus Christ, the Deliverer, came to rescue those who are broken and rejected by men~ He came to make right a people and unite man and God once more.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near in the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:13, RSV

So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.

Ephesians 2:19

Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in our hope of sharing the glory of God.

Romans 5:1-2

Consequently he is able for all time to save those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

Hebrews 7:25

You too can know God loves you and will care for you.  Place your faith in the Deliverer, Jesus Christ, and you will know His love daily and eternally.
