“We can never see the sun rise by looking into the west!”
Japanese Proverb
Focusing on our troubles or the difficulty of this life causes us to miss the beauty and joy of what God is doing. We miss living a life of faith to the glory of God.
The Bible clearly points to a course we all must suffer. We are here to run a race. This race has already been prepared with us in mind. We do not choose the course or the length. Still, throughout our race, there is great purpose to live as a faithful witness before a watching world. The Bible, as our roadmap, directs our course objective toward loyalty that perseveres in a life of faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).
But if we are fixing our eyes on all the trials and difficulties along the route, we will forfeit our prize (1 Corinthians 9:24). Our eyes must be fixed on the One Who is the greatest example (Hebrews 12:1-3).
Jesus!
The Son of God left heaven!
Put on human flesh (Philippians 2:6-8)!
Endured a cross of crucifixion!
Disregarded the shame!
Yet, through it all, He held an unwavering focus coupled with great joy to what was to come. Knowing that much glory and honor was to come as He sat down at the right hand of the throne of God; And not only that but also the glory He would sustain for the Father (Hebrews 12:2; Philippians 2:9-11).
Jesus trains and perfects our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He knows what to include in our race. So, fix your eyes with an unwavering focus; Keep your focus on the prize while remembering the Savior Who endured more than we ever will for the glories to come!
Which direction are your eyes fixed?

Keeping our eyes fixed on the One who is the greatest example – Oh how much we need Him. Thanks Scarlett Road.
