A Thousand Words

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, that’s how I feel when I look at this photo of our family taken at the end of 2008. The Lord had brought us through so much at this point, He literally kept our family in tack, and still there would be more to come. Tragedies and triumphs are all part of this life. What a blessing when we can actually look back and see that Our God caused it ALL to work together for good (Romans 8:28)! Trusting Him when we can’t see or understand is definitely the test of faith and perseverance.

Since this picture was taken the girls have each married pretty terrific guys, work hard at their careers, Carlie graduated from Liberty, and Jennifer gave us a grandson. Nathan served 6 years with the Air Force, including 1 deployment, and is close to finishing his MBA. Rodney has earned his Ed.D. from Liberty this past November, and will be walking at graduation in May (2017). He will tell you, he is living his dream – teaching in a Bible College. And then there’s me! After marrying at 18, having 3 babies, moving numerous times, serving in the pastorate along side my husband, and becoming an empty-nester, I actually completed an Associate’s degree in Bible in 2014 at Carolina College of Biblical Studies (where Rodney teaches)! A huge milestone for me. So as I reminisce, I’m praising the Lord for all these wonderful blessings. They didn’t happen without disappointments along the way but made the events even sweeter because of them! Only God . . .
