In the garden, God promised He would send a Deliverer who would overcome Satan. Of course, Satan tried every way possible to hinder God’s plan to send the Deliverer. Hence, Satan guided Cain to kill Abel. But God gave Adam and Eve another child in place of Abel. Seth was born separated from God but he trusted in God just like Abel. Two clear lines of men: The Sethites from Adam and the Canaanites from Adam. From Adam to Noah were ten generations of men who believed God and continued to look for the coming Deliverer promised in the Garden of Eden. By the time of Noah, and his three sons, there was a large population living on the earth. But the vast majority were interested only in having what they thought was a good time and followed the godless ways of Cain as well as Satan’s strategy to corrupt the seed of the deliverer (Genesis 6:1-8).
The Story of Noah and his wife, Genesis 6:9-8:22
“Noah, my husband, I heard at the market today gossiping lips attacking your good name. Laughter broke out as different ones repeated a warning you spoke to them: that God will judge the earth by sending a great flood, rain will pour down for many days, until the whole world is covered. I also heard you were seeking individuals to help cut wood, and tar and pitch masters for a great boat you are building.”
“Yes, my dear, God spoke to me and told me because the people have grown so evil and every intention of their heart is to do wickedness, He is going to send a great flood which will cover the whole earth. He told me to build a large boat so that all those who trust in Him could be saved. God has given me careful instructions to follow so that we do not have to worry about our safety. Any who will enter through the door of the ark will be saved.”
For 120 years, God waited while Noah preached and built the Ark. Noah and his family believed God and entered into the Ark at the appointed time. But the people did not accept God’s words which Noah spoke to them. God shut the door of the ark.
There was “one way” into the Ark, meaning God provided a way of salvation from the judgement of the flood, but the people didn’t listen. There is “one way” to find eternal life from the sins we have committed and the debt we owe (Romans 3:10, 23; John 3:16).
Do you know “the way, the truth, and the life”?
