You satisfy me when you shine at the center of my soul! I praise you for another October to radiate your glory!
Refreshing October!
In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief
Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall –F. Scott Fitzgerald
Memories of trick or treating bring me back to my small, Louisiana hometown where you knew everyone and everyone knew you. You didn’t wonder if it was safe to eat a homemade treat that had been dropped in your bag. One of my favorite treats, besides popcorn balls from the Fishers, were candy apples. Oh! How I loved candy apples! Since becoming an adult I crave caramel apples sprinkled with peanuts! With Halloween approaching, I’m planning what to hand out to all those ghosts and goblins, or batmen and princesses that will flock to our door. Our little neighbor boy has been donning his batman costume for a couple of weeks now, trying it out. Those that know us will certainly get something homemade, maybe even a popcorn ball!

I Was Made For October
A great time of the year to get cozy and spend some much-needed time with the Lord!
I’m so glad I live in a world where there are OCTOBERS—Anne of Green Gables
October has always been my favorite month – crisp air, leaves raining from the trees, colorful mums, funny scarecrows and large pumpkins. When I was a kid, I looked forward to “trick or treating” in my small town especially at the home of the Fishers where homemade popcorn balls were the treat. Now, I look forward to decorating, eating everything pumpkin, a bonfire and roasting marshmallows with our grands, black cake, watching “Meet Me in St. Louis,” and of course, going to the Fair (previously the Kansas State Fair and currently the NC State Fair). But the real reason I love October certainly has to do with it being my birthday month, not to mention a baby’s birth the day before MY birthday, in 1990.
I also find it a grand time to hunker…

A Fast Completed and a Birthday Celebrated!
Last month was such a blessing! A powerful reminder that God’s Word never runs out of fuel, never disappoints, and is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). It can never be exhausted! It is never irrelevant! It is applicable for every situation! Morning by morning throughout the month of September (September Fast, 2022), God awakened … Continue reading A Fast Completed and a Birthday Celebrated!
September Fast Finale
Throughout Scripture God allows challenges, setbacks, and negative scenarios because it’s against the backdrop of impossibilities that His beauty shines through. –Tony Evans, Pathways-Lessons from Esther, From Providence to Purpose And so, it is for us, in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles, God is waiting to display His glory! September Fast Done Purposefully
This month has been a purpose-filled journey! While fasting and spending time in prayer, I traveled through a portion of the life experiences of the Jews as many of them are captives in the Persian Empire. Along with the study book Pathways—Lessons from Esther, From Providence to Purpose by Tony Evans, I gained a greater … Continue reading September Fast Done Purposefully
September Fast Fixer
A characteristic of mine is that I am a fixer! I like to see problems fixed! I like to help people get fixed! Unfortunately, for years, I tried to do it my way and in my own strength. Seeking God’s plan and waiting for His direction, well, that just took too long, and I couldn’t … Continue reading September Fast Fixer
September Fast by Faith
As I approach a month long fast, I usually know what to expect. However, as a wise man said, “We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps” (Proverbs 16:9, NLT). So, for those times when I am invited to indulge in something I love, like an autumn festival, I need wisdom in … Continue reading September Fast by Faith
September Fast – He responded!
During a fast, when I am purposely asking the Lord to show me more of Him and less of me, you never know where it will take you. One place has been to a text message my 23-year-old nephew sent me just 17 days before he died. As I read it, I could not keep … Continue reading September Fast – He responded!
September Fast: A VITAL MESSAGE
How did I get here? What led me to start a “dairy, sugar fast" in 2017? At the time I thought it was the health issues I was experiencing. But now, I know without a doubt, it was the providential hand of God. I may never fully understand His methods, but I am so grateful … Continue reading September Fast: A VITAL MESSAGE
