A Favored Spot

A favored spot is sitting in my backyard in the early afternoon shade of the pines while marveling with admiration at the beauty around me. A Calibrachoa plant that survived the winter is dazzling me with her Candy Shop Fancy Berry brilliance. My new Purslane plants never disappoint, besides many others, and not the least … Continue reading A Favored Spot

Stand up & Stand Out!

All the stories about "only a boy named David" have caused me to ponder just what type of mother did this boy have! I mean really?! “Hey mom, you’ll never guess what happened last night while I was watching the sheep! A BIG hungry bear crept through the fog after one of our little lambs! … Continue reading Stand up & Stand Out!

The Platform: This Little Light of Mine!

As a little girl, I remember my maternal grandfather going outside to light a cigarette. In those days, it was common to hear strangers ask one another for a light. I myself prefer to have a light, but not that type! Feeling quite uncomfortable with the dark, a night light was required as a little … Continue reading The Platform: This Little Light of Mine!

Old Post with a New Message!

Have you ever been rescued from a scary plight you ignorantly got yourself into? Well, it is possible there were many, but one perilous circumstance took place while experiencing college life as a middle-aged teen. Being somewhat gullible and not to mention naïve, I allowed myself to be escorted by a guy I had just met. He seemed nice enough. But as his tour left the college campus and soon, with a blanket of darkness covering the sky, I stared over a precipice beholding a beautiful city ablaze in lights. After being “starstruck,” I became eerily aware of my surroundings which had faces gawking from behind paper-sacked bottles.

I love to hear the waves and watch the foamy currents race across the shoreline! I find going to the beach to be an exhilarating experience. Especially exhilarating is to try and walk through the crashing waves yet being knocked off your feet. And then, finding it impossible to stand back up because you cannot … Continue reading Slammed!

Sharon Kay Castillo Rion

She took her last breath January 24, 2021! I had hoped to celebrate her March 12th birthday with her that year! I do not recall ever having the privilege of celebrating it in person, alongside her. Yet even more, I always looked forward to her spiritual birthdate on April 26 (2005) each year. It was … Continue reading Sharon Kay Castillo Rion

A Positive Connection

In the early years of marriage (I was 18 when I married) experiencing emotional roller coasters and intense difficulties was a juggling act I was not cut out for! And though I soon became a pastor’s wife, my journey to trusting God and enjoying an intimate relationship seemed to always be lacking. Progress felt extremely … Continue reading A Positive Connection

Trusting God’s Sovereign Hand

Thinking back over the past several months, I see God’s sovereign hand in all that transpired. God’s sovereign hand led me to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas (2020) in Louisiana with my sister-in-law and family. Then, orchestrating my return just in time on January 24, to spend the last 3 hours of this earthly life with … Continue reading Trusting God’s Sovereign Hand
