A couple of cool facts about the month of June which you undoubtedly know.
- The longest day of the year occurs on either June 21st or 22nd.
- June is known as a great month to get married. And so, we did! Forty-One years ago, at the end of the month!
I am a bit in shock that I can be old enough to have reached 41 years of marriage, especially since I married so young! I thought it would take a much longer time to reach the age I will turn this year and I certainly never expected it to come this fast! 😉
Not sure why, but my amazing husband of almost 41 years has decided to get on board with a “Fast”! Yes, I can hardly believe it – AND it was all his idea. How terrific is that?!
So, we will be observing “A June Fast” leading up to our 41st Wedding Anniversary on the 26th.
This “Fast” will be a bit modified since he has never participated in a month long Fast.
To help cut out snacking in the evenings, He will be following my rule that I keep whether I am fasting or not: No eating after 7:00 p.m.
We will be fasting from bread and fried foods as well as greatly limiting sugar and dairy. I am so excited to see how it goes! I will try and update periodically. But for now, let me leave you with this passage that speaks to what we both desire to see in our marriage.
It is taken from 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and it was read at our wedding ceremony in 1981:
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
